The proud townsfolk of Toyoura have 3 recommended styles of preparing fresh Hotate. The cleaning process of the captured scallops involves laundry-like machines that wash over the scallops, with the workers who clean them literally shouting in joy as they do so. The hardships and challenges of capturing the scallops have also been documented on a DVD for showcasing Each person will be given six scallops to cook, being taught how to do so by the women whose livelihood is based on the production of these scallops (the local mothers). They will learn how to cut and then cook the 3 distinct styles of frying, sashimi, and nabe, and then enjoyed by those who prepared them to the fullest extent.. Reactions received from guests in Toyoura have included the following: "I was surprised at how delicious the Hotate really was." "I learned a significant amount about Hotate." "The warm reception we received from our hosts was exceptional."
